Just out of curiosity, where did you get the bear tank guidelines from?

So random forum post. These are guidelines, and I haven't don the research to verify them. I know that bears need more HP than the other tanks because bears have no way of becoming immune to crushing blows. I'm not sure on the armor value thing either. If you have suggestions for changing them, I will.

25k armor and 16k hp is just a little high, is all. I recognize that they're guidelines, but if I had 25k/16k on Treassa, I wouldn't be taking her through Kara, I'd have her benched and I'd be working on an alt.

The first set of stats that Cleon put up are for the more experienced players for the badge runs. Those stats are to ensure that every fight is pwnd, just so we can get badges, not loots. In that, the bear tank stats are there assuming that you will be main tanking everything. I am assuming if you are comfortable with off-tanking, then you wouldn't need to gear up to the same standards.

Yeah, I figured as much when Cleon mentioned crushing blows. It's not that big of a deal, really.

I've based a couple of future builds in Warcrafter off of gear recommendations from feral druid blogs like Of Teeth and Claws, Big Bear Butt, Ferocious Bite, Moar HP Than Jesus, etc. and what I'm looking at after running Kara several more times is around 22k/14k. That's assuming I don't replace my Clefthoof armor with PvP gear like a lot of people do. One of those guys (I don't remember which) is tanking bosses at Serpentshrine Cavern with 24k HP.

Of course, then again Big Bear Butt is off-tanking ZA at 30k/17k, so whatevs.

Yeah, the biggest issue is with Prince. He can cut you down damn quick if you don't have the HP. One time, he hit Cleon for about 5K, four times in a row in about .7 secs (That would be two crushing blows, me getting parried thus reseting his swing timer, and getting two more crushing blows). Getting your expertise higher will help against Prince, too.
